Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District Helping in Safe Medication Disposal

The Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District (JPASD) sends a reminder that it is vitally important to dispose of unused prescriptions and over the counter medications in a safe manner.

In an effort to help with this, JPASD invites you to come to their location at 117 Watts Street in Jonesboro and pick up free Deterra Drug Deactivation and Disposal packets.  The Deterra system is the only product that is independently tested and scientifically proven to destroy drugs for good.

The patented Deterra® System deactivates prescription drugs, pills, patches, liquids, creams and films. Deterra renders them inert, unavailable for misuse and safe for the environment. In a simple 3-step process, a user deactivates the drugs by putting them in a Deterra pouch or container, adding water, shaking and throwing it away. It’s truly that simple.

Step One: Open pouch and place unused medications inside.
Step Two: Fill halfway with warm water and wait 30 seconds. Foaming may occur.
Step Three: Seal tightly, gently shake and dispose of in normal trash.
