At their regularly scheduled monthly meeting for August, the Jackson Parish Police Jury approved a change order and certification of substantial completion of Contract II of the 2024 Road Program with The Riley Company or Ruston.  

The action was unanimously agreed upon by the seven member panel of Todd Culpepper (President), Lewis Chatham, Amy Magee, Sheketia Combs, Tarneshala Cowans, Regina Rowe and Keith Burris during the August 12th session. 

In additional business regarding Jackson Parish roads, the JPPJ agreed to allow Mr. Paul Riley of the Riley Company and Road Superintendent Wayne Anderson to work together to find a solution for Mariah Road in Chatham. 

Along with approving minutes of July meetings, monthly purchase orders and payment of all bills, further action taken involved:

(1) Approval of family and medical leave for Mr. Romaine Grant
(2) Approval of parish board appointments
(3) Adjusting Purchase Order procedures
(4) Adopting a new speed bump policy
(5) Accepting 2023 Quietus tax roll

Ms. Cindy Thompson of Allen Green & Williamson LLP also presented the audit ending December 31, 2023 and an announcement was made that the Region 5 Police Jury meeting will be held on October 24, 2024.
