The Northeast Louisiana High School Anglers Tour came to Caney Lake this past weekend with a large number of the 53 teams that participated hailing from Jackson Parish.
The locals defended their home lake in fine style as well with 4 of the 11 teams with anglers from Jackson Parish schools placing in the top twenty, including being the home the top two female anglers.
Parish Pride! No matter where the NELAHS holds a tournament, you can expect Hayden Davis and Maddox Duck, of Quitman High School to be a contender for top honors. This was true once again as the “dynamic D’s” came in with a five fish stringer that weighed 11.47 pounds, good for fourth place overall and best among Jackson Parish anglers. Brody Toms and Tucker Goss also had a good day on the lake that earned them a 20th place finish.
Girl Power! Proving catching bass in not just an “ole boys” sport, locals Hailey Chatham and Addison Ledford continue to prove their angling ability. The pair turned in the top two performances among female anglers and paced their teams to outstanding finishes. Chatham, who along with partner Ben Ramsey was representing Weston High, registered an 8th place finish while Ledford, who also goes to school at Weston High and partner Brody Halbrook, of Gracepoint Academy in Jonesboro finished in 12th place overall.
