Attendance Matters! Weston High School leads area schools in September

Weston High School had the highest attendance percentage in Jackson Parish in September

The Jackson Parish School District reminds parents and students that attendance in school matters. Each month the JPSD monitors attendance at each of the area schools and is pleased to recognize Weston High School as having the best student attendance at school for the month of September.

While none of the area schools reached the stated goal of having a 95% attendance percentage at each school, the JPSD was pleased that each school recorded at least a 90% attendance rate.

Weston High led the way with having 93.21% of their students in attendance with Quitman close behind at 93.19%.  Jonesboro-Hodge Elementary School was next at 92.56% with Jonesboro-Hodge Middle School and Jonesboro-Hodge High School checking in at 91.65% and 90.19% respectively.

Attendance in school is vital for a student to reach their full educational potential. Each day absent is a missed opportunity for your child to learn something they will need in order to understand more difficult material later. Students who miss more than 18 days of school are less proficient in reading, writing and math compared to their peers with good attendance.

Do your part and make sure your child is at school!
