The baseball team from Quitman and Weston Junior High head into the fall break full of confidence and momentum after earning victories in their games on Monday and Tuesday. The Lady Wolves of Weston also ended the pre-break part of the schedule in a bang by securing a second straight shut out victory but for the Quitman Junior High softball team the mood is not quite as good. Even though they suffered a loss they will take something positive into the break as well as they scored a season high in runs.
BASEBALL
Quitman (Blue) 7 Calvin 0: Tucker Goss turned in the pitching performance of the fall on Monday when he struck out 13 batters in a five inning, no-hitter. Only twice in the game did Calvin manage to put the bat on the ball, that being in the first and second innings. Over the next three innings, Goss struck out the side. Offensively the Wolverines were impressive as well as they pounded Calvin pitching for 8 hits, including 4 for extra bases. Hayden Seymore led the hit parade with a 2/2 effort that included a home run, two runs scored and three RBI, while also adding a stolen base. Lucas Leach also came up big with a double and a triple in two at bats and adding a run scored. Goss helped his own cause with a triple and two runs scored and Luke Rowe got a hit and an RBI. Jake Moak got a hit and scored a run as did Jaxon Cheatwood. The victory ran the “Blue” teams record to a perfect 5-0 on the year.

SOFTBALL
Stanley 22 Quitman 15: The Lady Wolverines saw their record fall to 3-3 on the year after dropping the slugfest to Stanley. For three innings it was nip and tuck as Stanley held a slim 10-9 lead but four runs in each of the last three innings by the home team was too much to overcome. A bright not was that the 15 runs scored was by far the most QJH has scored in a game this season to date. Averi Hasley, Kynleigh Leach and Emma Simmonelli got three hits that Quitman managed with the majority of offense coming through coaxing 20 walks from Stanley pitching.
