David Eugene “Gene” Robertson
April 26, 1958 – November 19, 2024

robertsonDavid Eugene “Gene” Robertson passed away on November 19, 2024 in Farmerville, Louisiana, while doing what he loved- hunting. He was 66 years old. Gene loved to joke and have fun. There was never a dull moment when he was around. His family says he should have been a meteorologist because he continually checked the “Weather Channel” for the local forecast. Gene’s passion was spending time with his many grandchildren. He loved them dearly.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Kathy (Persons) Robertson; mother, Ellen May Robertson; adopted kids, David D. Womack, Scianna Myles, Nicholas Myles, Andria Hemby, Bruce Hemby and Robert Coonce; grandchildren, Camden Womack, Spencer Womack, Kaitlyn Womack, Carson Hemby, Annaleese Hemby, Jaxon Hemby, Elouise Myles, Evangeline Myles and Emilia Myles; Siblings, Shirley Dean, Gary Robertson & Joyce, and Cathy Knighten & Eddie. Gene was preceded in death by his father, Marlon Robertson.

The funeral service was held at Full Gospel Christian Center in Jonesboro, on Saturday, November 23, 2024with Bro. Billy Mac McBride and Bro. Eli McBride officiating. Burial followed in Harmony Grove Cemetery near Garr’s Mill in Winn Parish under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro. 

Serving the family as pallbearers was Spencer Womack, Nicholas Myles, Lee Brown, Braxton Brown, Devon Jordan, Marlon “BoBo” Jowers, Corey Persons and Dennis Robertson.

Michael Austin Coats
December 20, 1994 – November 18, 2024

coatsMichael Austin Coats, 29, of Saline, LA went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2024 in Winnfield, LA. Austin was born on December 20, 1994 in Shreveport, LA to Michael and Melinda Coats.

A Memorial service was held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Old Saline Baptist Church in Saline, LA officiated by Bro. Michael Sanders. 

Austin was preceded in death by his loving Mother, Melinda Faye Coats, his grandparents Mac and Opal Coats, Linda Martin, and Donald Choate Jr. His great grandparents Willard and Faye Cheatwood, and baby Jude Coats who passed away before birth.

He is survived by his children, twin boys Jackson and Jameson Coats, his daughter, Eleanor “Ellie” Coats, and the mother of his children Tara. His Father, Michael Coats and wife Michelle, and his sister, Alexis Emerson and husband Johnathan, and his Grandfather Jerry Martin. A host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Two cousins he considered sisters growing up, Madison Sanford and Maci Lowe, and his lifelong friend John Hurt.

Austin was a 2013 graduate of Saline High School. In his younger years he looked forward to summer every year where he played softball in Readhimer for the Red Raiders. He also spent his high school years enjoying 4H Shooting Sports where he qualified for state. Austin loved to fish and he enjoyed taking his children to the park. He always had a joke or a quirky gesture to share. He always had a smile on his face and a distinct laugh you could never forget.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our family and friends for all the calls and prayers during this time.
