Top-Ranked Jonesboro-Hodge Baseball Toppled by Calvin

Trey Trosclair fires a pitch for Jonesboro-Hodge

The spring of 2025 has been one of “firsts” for the Jonesboro-Hodge High School baseball team. The Tigers, under the direction of Carlos Hicks, have re-written the school record books not once, twice, but three times in their first three games, setting new team scoring marks for opening the season.

JHHS has also become the first team in more than a decade to win their first three games of the season and just last week became the first baseball team in school history to earn the #1 ranking in the LHSAA power ratings, topping Division IV among “non-select” schools.

Now the Tigers have experienced another “first”, albeit, this one being one they would rather have not taken place. After starting the season 3-0, JHHS suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday, falling to Calvin High School by a 13-3 score.

NEXT UP! Jonesboro-Hodge will next be in action at 3:00 pm on Monday, March 10th when they play host to Dodson. As of press time it had not yet been determined if the game would be played at the Tiger’s baseball field, located behind the Jonesboro-Hodge Elementary School campus on Thrasher Road or at the Jackson Parish Recreation Department Sports Complex on Hwy 4 east of Jonesboro.

Lady Tigers to Host Lincoln Prep on Tuesday for District 1-1A Matchup

Jonesboro-Hodge will host Lincoln Prep for their first home district 1-1A softball contest at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11th. The contest will mark the first game played at the Lady Tigers softball field, located behind the Jonesboro-Hodge Elementary School campus on Thrasher Drive in Jonesboro.

Still looking for their first win under first year coach Geniece Levingston, The Lady Tigers bring an 0-4 overall record and 0-1 district mark into the game while Lincoln Prep will take to the field for the first time this season.

On Wednesday, March 12th, JHHS will be back at the “friendly confines” of the JHHS Softball Field as they will take on Richwood for a non-district 1-1A game with the first pitch scheduled for 5:00 pm.

Cedar Creek 20 JHHS 0: All nine Lady Cougar batters scored, including two who crossed home place twice as Cedar Creek sent 11 batters to the plate in the top of the first inning before an out was registered in J-H’s district 1-1A opener. Conversely, the Lady Tigers managed just three baserunners over the three inning played with A. Alivia Anderson and Skyliah Dill coaxing walks and Satavia Qualls getting hit by a pitch.
