Help Me!

Any parent or caregiver knows how difficult it can be to keep infants contented. Some are less restless than others but all communicate their needs through crying. The longer they wait for needs to be met, the louder they cry.

Help me!

“The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son; when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him for three months (Exodus 2:2 HCSB).”

Imagine how difficult it must have been for the parents of Moses to conceal him and his cries. The Pharaoh had demanded the death of all male Hebrew children and Moses’ cries could lead to his death.

His mother didn’t wring her hands in fear; instead, she used them to weave a basket.

“But when she could no longer hide him, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with asphalt and pitch. She placed the child in it and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile. Then his sister stood at a distance in order to see what would happen to him (Exodus 2:3-4 HCSB).”

God had a plan for Moses; He would in time use him to help silence the cries of those held in bondage.

“The Israelites groaned because of their difficult labor, and they cried out; and their cry for help ascended to God because of the difficult labor. So God heard their groaning, and He remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God saw the Israelites, and He took notice (Exodus 2:23b-25 HCSB).”

God always hears the cries of His people; he hears yours…
