Pierce Ulloa roped a “walk-off” triple to score Kamal Cottonham and Jamichael Collins, who had doubled and singled respectively, to give Jonesboro-Hodge a thrilling 16-15 win over Lincoln Prep for their first district 1-1A victory of the year.
In the contest that saw the two teams combine to tie the score or take the lead 11 times, Jonesboro-Hodge improved to 6-4 on the year overall and 1-2 in district 1-1A play while Lincoln Prep lost their district opener and 9th game in a row without a victory this season.
The Tigers had season high 30 batters reach base on the strength of 19 hits that included seven extra base bashes, paced by Ulloa’s triple and a double and both Marquis Baker and Cottonham slapping a pair of “two baggers” each. JHHS also ran wild once on base, swiping a season best 20 stolen bases. John LaBlance, who also ripped a triple and scored three runs, led the thievery with five swipes, followed by Dakota Knox, Ulloa and Baker taking three bags each.
