
James William Wright Sr.
January 19, 1933 – May 11, 2025

Mr. James William Wright Sr., of Goldonna, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born on January 19, 1933, James lived a vibrant and adventurous life filled with passion, hard work, and joy. A proud veteran, he served his country with distinction, dedicating four years to the United States Navy and twelve years to the United States Air Force.
Following his military service, James wore many hats throughout his life. He was a talented painter, a beloved local store owner in Brewton’s Mill—famous for his ice cream—and a spirited carnival worker who brought joy to many. He even created his own corn dog recipe, which became a crowd favorite at his well-known Jim’s Weenie Wagon in Atlanta, Georgia.
James was a true social butterfly who never met a stranger. He had a zest for life, loved to travel, and left an impression wherever he went with his warm heart and generous spirit.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Louise Wright; and his four brothers, Don Wright, Gerald Wright, Stanley Wright, and David Wright.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, James Wright Jr. (Jenny) and Edward Wright (Helen), both of Goldonna, LA; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy Grossi (Sam) of Greenville, MS, and Molly Young of Mobile, AL; his dear friend Glennie Chadwick; and a special niece, Barbara Sue Makamson.
James will be remembered for his joyful soul, his creative spirit, and the many lives he touched along the way. He leaves behind a legacy of service, laughter, and love.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 14th at the Church of Christ in Jonesboro with the Celebration of Life service immediately following. Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery Ward 10 in Brewton’s Mill, LA under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home
