On Monday, April 28th, the Jackson Parish Library (JPL) hosted the Jonesboro Study Guild for their monthly meeting. JPL Director Floyd Knox opened the session by summarizing the role the Library has played in Jackson Parish from its dedication in 1960 to current day programs. JPL Program Coordinator Joanna Gibson then provided Guild members a “sneak peek” into what special activities are upcoming for young and old alike, while giving special emphasis on the Library’s ongoing commitment to encourage children to enhance their reading skills and reach their Accelerated Reader goals.
Special guest Sherry Varnell, who is a Park Ranger at the Jimmie Davis State Park on Caney Lake, then took the floor to provide information on what events and activities will be taking place at the park throughout the remainder of the year. The session ended with Guild member Jolene Carson treating those in attendance to a delicious cake.
