The western portion of Industrial Drive in Jonesboro is still closed while repairs are being made to washout areas and low spots are resurfaced. The good news though is that it is hoped that it won’t be that way for long.
According to Jonesboro Mayor James “Spike” Harris, repair work is nearing completion, and provided weather permits, the road should be reopened all the way through by mid-week.
“We are almost through doing what needs to be done to make this road safe for travel again,” said Harris. “We are looking at having everything completed no later than Wednesday (May 21st), but that is also dependent on us getting good weather over the next few days. I would like to applaud our public works department for responding to the problems in such quick fashion and thank the public for their patience and understanding while repairs are being made.”
As a reminder, for those who work at the Jackson Parish Jail located on Gansville Road, or have the need to access the facility, please use the Gansville/Airport Road as an alternative route. Federal Prison workers can continue to access Industrial Drive without any changes.
