All flags in the town of Jonesboro will be lowered to half-mast in honor of District A Board of Aldermen representative James Ginn, who unexpectantly passed away on Friday, June 6th at the age of 66 years old.
The son of Francis Claude and Johnnie Evelyn (Pullen) Ginn served District A and the Town of Jonesboro for the last 6 years, being recognized as a strong advocate for the development and enhancement of the community.
In honor of his legacy, Jonesboro Mayor James “Spike” Harris declared an official Period of Mourning that began on June 9th and will continue for 30 days, with the flag at Jonesboro City Hall being lowered for the duration.
“Councilman Ginn was a steadfast supporter and passionate advocate for the development and enhancement of Jonesboro, Louisiana,” said Harris. “His unwavering commitment and dedication to our beloved city will forever be etched in our collective memory.”
James also served the Jaycees Organization as a National Vice President 1994-1995 and LA State President 1992-1993 and was a founding member and President of the LA TAG (Tech Advancement Group), where he started Tech and Tails and had a scholarship named in his honor in 2019. He loved his Bulldogs, tailgating with great friends in TAG, and serving current and past Bulldogs. He was also the owner of GSG Sports, which specialized in recreational and athletic supplies and sportswear.
Strong in his faith, James served on multiple Ministry Teams at First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, as well as being active in the Thursday Men’s Bible Study, always wanting to learn and grow.
