Jackson Parish won two of three District 8 tournament games played in Natchitoches this weekend to advance to within one game of qualifying for the North Regional tournament that will be played in Oakdale, LA, July 10-13.
Jackson Parish opened by taking a thrilling come-from-behind 11-10 victory over Alexandria on Friday before falling 14-5 to Pineville on Saturday morning. With their backs against the wall, JP10U blanked Buckeye 10-0 that afternoon, which put them right back to controlling their own destiny as they will play again on Tuesday against an opponent yet to be determined.
(Game One) Jackson Parish 11 Alexandria 10 – Free passes to Sutton Vail, Hunter Williams, and Grant Williams to open the bottom of the fifth inning led to a “walk off” victory as Jackson Parish rallied from a 9-2 deficit in the second inning to ambush Alexandria. Six runs in the bottom of the third is what got JP10U back in it as the first six batters reached base and scored. The inning started with Maddox Graham, Cruz Nomey, and Andrew Seymore all drawing one-out walks, followed by singles from Vail and the two Williams. Jackson Parish tied it at 10-10 in the bottom of the fourth when Nomey hit a clutch two-out triple that plated Nash Moak and Clay Burton, who had singled and walked. Ryder Gray also came up big for the locals as he came on in the third inning to get the win in relief after striking out four and holding Alexandria to an unearned run over the final three innings.

(Game Two) Pineville 14 Jackson Parish 5 – Pineville broke open a 2-1 game after three innings by plating 12 runs over the final three innings to win going away. Singles by Cruz Nomey and Andrew Seymore helped Jackson Parish score their first run in the bottom of the first inning but by the time the locals came to bat in the bottom of the fourth, the score was 6-1. Back to back triples by Maddox Graham and Nomey followed by a single from Seymore plated two for Jackson Parish to narrow the gap to 6-3 but three more runs by Pineville in the top of the fifth and five more in the sixth put the game away. Ryder Gray scored in the fifth for Jackson Parish and Seymore added a run in the bottom of the sixth.

(Game Three) Jackson Parish 10 Buckeye 0 – Andrew Seymore limited Buckeye to four meaningless singles in four innings of work while also hitting a double and driving in a run to help keep JP10U alive. Cruz Nomey got the locals off and running with a triple that scored Clay Burton and Maddox Graham who had led off the bottom of the first inning with walks. More hits followed but it was Buckeye pitching who plunked Sutton Vail and Grant Williams before walking Landry Garrett that led to three more runs being scored and a quick 5-0 JP10U lead. The advantage jumped to 8-0 thanks to more free passes and timely hitting as Nash Moak, Burton, and Graham drew walks and Vail was the third hit batsman of the game while Seymore doubled and Hunter Williams singled. Two more runs were scored in the bottom of the third inning when Garrett walked and Nash Moak singled and scored.
