The local chapter of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is close to reaching an impressive milestone of making Jackson Parish the first in the state to have 50% of eligible children enrolled in the program.
In an effort to achieve this lofty standard, local administrator Brittany Treadway is reaching out to all parents and/or guardians to encourage them to give their child under the age of 5 the gift of reading by registering them for the FREE books provided through the program.
Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly started her Imagination Library in 1995 for the children within her home county. Today, this program spans five countries and gifts millions of free books each month to children around the world.
Like Dolly always says, “You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.” Let’s make sure every child in our parish has the chance to grow up with the magic of books.
If you reside in Jackson, Lincoln, Bienville, or Winn Parish and have a child under the age of 5, please register them at www.imaginationlibrary.com or reach out to Brittany Treadway on her Facebook page.
