The Jackson Parish Golf Course was the place where 150 golfers from all over north Louisiana and parts beyond came to this past Saturday and Sunday, August 9-10 for a shot at one of the largest paydays in area amateur competition.

Fifty teams divided into five flights vied for the $3,000.00 first prize that was given in each flight. Second place netted $1,500.00 for the 3-man team and $600.00 was gained for finishing third in the flight.

After playing 18 holes for two days with flights being determined after the first day, it was Brad Porter, Chad Roden, and Keith Crosby who earned the $3000.00 fir prized bragging rights to be called the Piney Woods Champions after firing rounds of 56 and 59 for a 115 total over the par 144 expanse.
