Ellon Reed Neatherland
October 22, 1941 – August 17, 2025
Ellon Reed Neatherland, age 83, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, August 17, 2025. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Ellon devoted over 20 years of service working in the cafeteria at Weston High School, where she touched many lives with her kindness and care.
She was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and found great joy in worship and fellowship. Ellon loved her family deeply and cherished every opportunity to visit with others. She enjoyed sewing, coloring, and especially cooking—always sharing her delicious meals with family and friends. With a love for planting flowers, tending to her potted plants, and admiring butterflies, Ellon’s life was filled with simple joys that reflected her gentle and giving spirit.
Ellon is survived by her children, Randy Neatherland, Lisa Neatherland Stevenson (Randy), and Darren Neatherland (Tracy); 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bud Reed and Michael Reed; brother-in-law, David Neatherland; sister-in-law, LaWanda Ponder; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Neatherland; father, Robert Henry Reed; mother, Dora Margaleane (Neal) Reed; sisters, Darlene Atkins and Ida Geneva May.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held the chapel on Thursday, August 21 at 10:00 AM in with Bro. Chris Lee and Bro. Mike Staples officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery near Weston, Louisiana under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Neatherland, Jason Potts, Matt Stevenson, Malachi Neatherland, Grayson Hensley and Jaden Garrett. Honorary pallbearer will be Jagger Leedy.
Marie Huff Pierce
July 7, 1932 – August 13, 2025
Ms. Marie (Huff) Pierce passed away at Forest Haven Nursing Home in Jonesboro, Louisiana on August 13, 2025. She was 93 years old. Known for her gentle spirit and boundless love, Marie touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She never missed a chance to tell someone she loved them, often with her favorite phrase, “I love you with a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.” Her deep faith in the Lord shone through in her life, and she cherished every opportunity to attend church and worship.
A graveside service was held at Crowville Masonic Cemetery near Crowville, Louisiana (LA Hwy 17) on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Bro. Bennie Joe McVay officiating. Burial was under the direction of Southern Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Marie is survived by her sisters, Mary Corbett and Katherine Morgan; brother, Richard Huff; nephew, Eric Fox; great niece, Misty Jones; great-granddaughter, Debra Darter; nieces, DeWanna King (Mike) and Judy West (Mike); and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her by her husband, O’Quinn Pierce; father, George N. Huff; mother, Mellie Viola (Fox) Huff; sister, Jessie Mae Fox; brothers, Marvin Huff, George Huff, Jr. and Ervin Huff.
Rose Barnes Burns
June 6, 1960 – August 16, 2025
Rose Barnes Burns went to be with the Lord on August 16th at the age of 65 years old. A public viewing for family, friends, and well-wishers will be held from 2:00 – 6:00 pm on Friday, August 22nd, at the Paradise Building in Jonesboro.
The Life Celebration Service will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 23rd at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Jonesboro, with Interment following in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Craig D. Livingston
April 20, 1962 – August 9, 2025
Born on April 20, 1962, Craig D. Livinston received his heavenly reward on August 9th at the age of 63 years old. Friends, family and well-wishers will have the opportunity to say their last goodbyes from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 21st at the Paradise Building in Jonesboro, LA.
At 11:00 am on Friday, August 22nd, the Life Celebration service will take place at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, located at 446 Bowden Road in Ruston. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home.
Wade Singleton
November 19, 1931 – August 10, 2025
After enjoying a long life of 93 years, Wade Singleton was called to be with the Lord on August 10th. Friends and family said their final goodbyes on Monday, August 15th at the Paradise Building in Jonesboro with the Life Celebration service taking place on Saturday, August 16th at Travelers Rest Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Singleton was then laid to rest in the New Friendship Cemetery in Wyatt, LA under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home.
Frances Richards
May 10, 1937 – August 7, 2025
Ms. Frances Richards passed away on August 7th at the age of 88 years old. After the public came to give regards to family members and pay tribute to Ms. Frances on Friday, August 15th the Life Celebration service was held on Saturday, August 16th at the Paradise Building in Jonesboro, LA. Interment followed at the Bethany Cememtery in Quitman, LA under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
