Sybil Marie (Truelove) Horton
March 3, 1928 – August 21, 2025

Sybil Marie (Truelove) Horton, age 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of August 21, 2025. A devoted mother and grandmother, Sybil found her greatest joy in caring for her children and delighting in spoiling her grandchildren. She had a gentle love for the simple pleasures of life—tending her garden, watching the birds outside her window, and settling in with a favorite western on television. Known for her deep affection for animals, especially her beloved dogs, Sybil lived with both kindness and a remarkable sense of preparedness that touched every part of her life.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Margie Wages, Mary Dean Horton, Charlie Horton, and Grover Horton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas Truelove; mother, Ida Lois (Hearn) Truelove; husband, Grover Horton; sons, Ed Sims and Richard Sims; daughter, Dorthy Potts; brothers, Sylvester Truelove, James Truelove, Alton Truelove, Lavelle Truelove, Ray Truelove, and William Truelove; and sister, Eunice Ramsey.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Chatham from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Chatham Cemetery at 12:30 PM under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home. Bro. Tim Atkins will officiate.
