Morning Devotional by Pam Ford Davis

So Good!

Slang fascinates me. How does a slang expression start, who first said it, and why?

Two popular examples of slang quickly come to mind. First, who hasn’t heard ‘not’ as the way to cross out something just said? I’m a millionaire.

‘Not!’

The next example of slang puzzles me. ‘I’m good.’ Someone offers a person something (such as coffee or tea) and gets the ‘I’m good’ response. Whatever happened to yes please or no thank you?

My personal opinion…

‘Whatever!’

Enough of my sarcasm; it’s time to get serious.

Are you good; am I?

Even young children know who’s good. It’s God.

“God is great, God is good; let us thank Him for our food.” (Public Domain)

God, YOU are so good to me.

“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.

O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.

To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.

To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever (Psalm 136:1-5 KJV).”

I’m blessed and I know why. God is good!
