The Quitman High School Senior Beta Club continued its Service Learning Project during the month of October by honoring First Responders. One of their projects was recognizing the Quitman Fire Department “Firefighters of the Year – 2024.”
They provided Chase Murphy and Jeff St.Clair with snack baskets and $25 Visa gift cards as a “Thank You” for their service and commitment to keeping the Village of Quitman safe, as well as the surrounding areas in Jackson Parish.
The Quitman Fire Department operates on a volunteer basis, so it was an honor to recognize these gentlemen for their willingness to go above and beyond, voluntarily, as that is one of the pillars of Beta. Quitman High School Senior Beta Club appreciates all first responders and their commitment to serving our community.
Beta Club, or the National Beta Club, is an academic youth organization for students in grades 4-12 that promotes achievement, character, leadership, and service. Students are typically invited to join based on academic performance, such as a minimum GPA, and good character, though specific criteria can vary by school chapter. The organization encourages members to participate in community service projects and develop their leadership skills.
