The Agriscience classroom at Weston High School is loaded with “blue banners” won by FFA members over the years at area, state, and national competitions. After the state FFA Leadership Development Event (LDE) competition that was held at McNeese State University in Lake Charles on Tuesday, Director Derek Shields is going to have to make room for two more.

Continuing the tradition of Weston High School FFA members taking top honors in LDE competition, Elsie Flynn won first place in Creed Speaking, and Molly Beaubouef took third place in Prepared Speaking.

“They liked decorating the Agriscience classroom with blue felt so much that they got some more decorations today,” said Shields. “These girls have put in countless hours of researching, planning, studying, and reciting over the last several weeks.”

The pair qualified for the state LDE event by taking first-place awards in the Area 1 competition held at Louisiana Tech University on December 9th, after both won top honors at the District 2 LDE on November 20th.
