This past week, Town of Joneboro Mayor James “Spike” Harris was interviewed by David Roper of Channel 8, KNOE-TV in Monroe, where he outlined his plans for 2026. 

During the discussion, Harris stated that so far his main focus has been improving the town’s infrastructure and utility concerns, while also highlighting that revenues are up and, for the first time in years, the town’s audit was submitted on time. 

Harris continued by saying that while he is pleased that Jonesboro is on the upswing, his goal is to continue the growth by now putting his attention to increased public safety through building up the Police Department so that new businesses will be attracted to the town, which will bring more jobs.
