School Board Calls for an Election to Renew District #1 Ad Valoren Tax

The Jackson Parish School Board held its regularly scheduled meeting for the month of January on Monday at the Jackson Parish School District Central Office in Jonesboro. 

The first item of business on the agenda, was board members Mary Saulters, Rick Barlow, Paulette Belton, Gerry Mims, Wade McBride, and Dennis Clary approving the minutes of the December meeting.

Following was an announcement of a public meeting to consider adopting a resolution ordering and calling an election to be held to renew the ad valorem tax for Consolidated School District #1.

The Board then recognized David Huckaby, Principal of Weston High School, and Kim Shows, Math Teacher at Weston, who presented updates on NIET and Embedded Coaching.

General Fund, Federal Program, School Food Service, Sales Tax, Special Education, and District Maintenance bills were then approved for payment, and Kristi Bass, Business Manager, presented the Financial Report.

Policy revisions were then approved regarding the following:
• BCBB – Notification of School Board Meetings
• DFK – Sale of Surplus Equipment and Supplies
• DJE – Purchasing
• EBBC – Emergency/Crisis Management
• GBC – Recruitment
• GBN – Dismissal of Employees
• GBRA – Employee Conduct
• JGCF – Behavioral Health Support for Students
