JHHS “Winter Classic” Begins Play on Thursday

The Jonesboro-Hodge High School gymnasium will be the place to be this Thursday – Saturday, as 8 schools, ranging from Division I to Class C, half ranking in the top ten of their respective divisions and all but two holding a “top 20” rating, will be in action for the inaugural JHHS Winter Classic.

Joining the JHHS boys team will be a pair of Class 5A schools in Ruston, ranked #7 in Division I, which features projected All-Stater 6’7″ Ahmad Houston and #15 Airline, whose head coach of the boys team is Jackson Parish native Marvin Davis. Also playing on the boys side is Lakeview and Montgomery, ranked #4 and #20 respectively Division IV along with Union Parish, New Living Word from Ruston and Winnfield, led by former JHHS coach and Jackson Parish resident Allen Tew.

Four teams, including JHHS at #19 in Division IV, are ranked in the “top 20 of their respective divisions on the girls side of the bracket. Winnfield has the highest ranking at #7 in Division III, followed closely by Ruston at #9 in Division I and Union Parish at #13 in Division III. Also participating is Lakeview and Montgomery.
