JP Ambulance Service District and Police Jury Partner in Fight Against Opiods

The Jackson Parish Police Jury (JPPJ) has entered into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District (JPASD) in Jonesboro, which sets the framework for the two entities to join forces in the battle against Opiod abuse. This investment reinforces a shared commitment to the safety, health, and resilience of all Jackson Parish residents and visitors.

The JPASD submitted a proposal requesting financial support from the Louisiana Opioid Settlement Fund Distributions to demonstrate evidence-informed treatment, education, and harm reduction in Jackson Parish.

The purpose of the funds will be used for Treatment, Prevention, and Other Strategies as directed by the Louisiana Opioid Settlement. Education will be provided free of charge, along with the necessary tools to equip the community responder more effectively.

Included in the JPASD Emergency Response Cabinet will be:
*Fully Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
*LifeVac (Choking Rescue device for Adult and Child)
*CPR Rescue masks (for Adult and Child)
*PPE (gloves)
*Narcan (Opioid overdose reversal medication)
*CAT Tourniquet (Tourniquet for controlling significant bleeding)

In all, 21 AED’s and other necessary emergency response equipment will be spread across the parish.
