On April 8th, Jackson Parish fire departments from Jonesboro, Quitman, and Hodge assisted Bienville Fire District 7 in putting out a fire just over the Jackson/Bienville Parish line that burned over 50 acres and an uninhabited structure. According to Jackson Parish Fire Chief’s Association President Philip Brown, the fire was deemed unintentional. 

Brown also reminds that even though the area has received some rain lately, the ground remains very dry and conditions are still favorable for fires to get out of control quickly. Therefore, the burn ban for Jackson Parish is still in effect until further notice.
