Lisa Hicks of Jonesboro-Hodge Elementary School Recognized as JPSD “Staff Standout”

In an effort to honor the outstanding educators who toil tirelessly to give students in the Jackson Parish school system the best education possible, the Jackson Parish School District (JPSD) is pleased to continue the weekly educator recognition program, “Who We Are Wednesday.”

Each Wednesday, one of the JPSD faculty members is recognized for their tremendous commitment, dedication, and excellence in the classroom, which helps our local youth prepare for their future endeavors. This week, Lisa Hicks, a lively Kindergarten teacher at Jonesboro-Hodge Elementary School, is honored.

With 19 years in education, all spent serving students in Jackson Parish Schools, Lisa brings joy and energy into her classroom each day, creating a learning environment where students feel comfortable and excited to come to school. Her ability to connect with young learners and make each day meaningful leaves a lasting impact during their very first school experiences.

One of the most memorable accomplishments in her career was being awarded the Horace Mann–Lincoln Fellowship, which gave her the opportunity to travel to Illinois and study the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln—an experience that enriched both her teaching and personal growth.

Lisa credits Dr. Kathryn Newman from GSU as an educator who made a lasting impact on her life.
If she weren’t in education, Lisa would love to run a soup kitchen—continuing her passion for helping others. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling and exploring new places.

Please join the Jackson Parish School District in celebrating Lisa Hicks and the positive impact she has made on generations of students in Jackson Parish Schools!
