Jackson Parish Watershed District Committee holds Meeting

The Jackson Parish Watershed District (JPWD) held it’s regularly scheduled meeting on June 4th in the Sunshine Room of the Jackson Parish Police Jury Administration Building, located at 160 Industrial Avenue in Jonesboro.

The session began with President/Treasurer Gary Joynor calling the meeting to order and the minutes from the April 16th, 2026 being approved. JPWD board members Jimmy Waggoner, Wes Harvey, Jerry Chestnut, John Shoemake, Daniel Ponder and Phil Milstead then took action on the following measures.

Old Business:
1. Discussed striping for the Ebenezer parking lot project.
2. Discussed No Parking signage and painted lines for the Spillway Parking lot project
3. Discussed the purchase and installation of boat bumpers for Ebenezer boat pier.

New Business:
1. Gave approval for the Jackson Parish Ambulance Service to install a public use life vest station at Spillway Boat Launch
2. Gave approval of the Financial Statement and payment of May 2026 bills.
3. Gave approval of building permits for Sabra Massey, Matt White, and Kalob Deshotel.
4. Gave approval for striping of Ebenezer boat launch parking lot.
5. Accepted Wes Harvey’s resignation from the Watershed Committee.

The session concluded with members making comments, along with comments by President Joynor, who especially made note of how excited he was about the life vest station at the Spillway Boat Launch and the new throw ring and safety poll at Ebenezer Boat Launch and Pier.

“I am very happy to see these implemented as it really enhances safety measures on the lake,” said Joynor. “It is our goal to not only improve the quality of time spent on the lake but also take every measure possible to ensure that visitors are as safe as possible.”
