Eli Walker Cards Top 40 Finish at 107th Louisiana Amateur Championship

Eli Walker

Eli Walker, who helped lead Quitman High School to the LHSAA Division IV state golf championship in 2024, competed in the 107th Louisiana Amateur Golf Championship played at the historic Metairie Country Club from June 4-7, where he compiled a top-40 finish.

Walker’s final four-day score of 296, which was good for 38th place, was the fifth best of all golfers from north Louisiana, behind four from Shreveport/Bossier and tops from players from northeast Louisiana. Weston High School alum Tayt Culpepper also competed, failing to make the cut after compiling a two-day total of 166.

The winner of the tournament was Connor Cassano of Baton Rouge, who shot a four-day total of 276, or 4-under par, over the par 70, 6,741-yard course, considered to be one of the toughest courses in the state, to become only the 9th player all-time to win consecutive state amateur titles and first since 2015.
