Despite sweltering heat and seemingly daily rain showers, the Town of Jonesboro Public Works has been tremendously busy with road improvements throughout July, with Hamilton, Bamburg, Hickory, Congo, and Gimber Streets receiving overlays. The work is part of the ongoing infrastructure improvement program made possible through grants received.

“Our goal is to complete at least one street improvement project each month as funding allows,” said Jonesboro Mayor J. “Spike” Harris. “Thanks to careful financial planning and responsible budgeting, we are making strategic investments in our streets while continuing to improve our water, sewer, and other critical infrastructure.

Mayor Harris stated he was very pleased with the work done by the Public Works department and is excited about the future plans in place designed to make Jonesboro a stronger, safer and more prosperous community.

“We are also investing in training our employees so we can strengthen our ability to maintain and repair our roads well into the future. While there is still work ahead, every completed project brings us one step closer to a community where quality infrastructure supports families, businesses, and future growth,” said Harris. “We thank our residents for their continued patience, support, and confidence as we move Jonesboro forward together. We’re investing in infrastructure today for generations tomorrow!
