Death Notices

Misti (Jiles) Wood
January 15, 1973 – July 6, 2026

Misti MeLeigh (Jiles) Wood, age 53, passed away peacefully at Forest Haven Nursing Home in Jonesboro on July 6, 2026. Misti was a precious child of God whose sweet spirit and loving heart touched those around her. Though she faced challenges in this life, she found joy in the blessings God gave her each day—working word puzzles, receiving visitors, visiting with the other residents, and joining in the activities at Forest Haven. Misti especially loved playing Bingo, where she became lovingly known as the “Bingo Champion.” Her life was a testimony of simple faith, love, and joy, and we take comfort in knowing that she is now whole and at peace in the presence of the Lord.

Misti is survived by her mother, Sally Kennedy; aunt, Shirley Williams and her husband, Bruce; aunt, Barbara Hawthorne and her husband, Floyd; uncle, James Kennedy and his wife, Jill; uncle, Ronnie Kennedy and his wife, Melody; and numerous cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul R. “Bub” Jiles; brother, Todd Jiles; maternal grandparents, Lois and Elijah Kennedy; paternal grandparents, Edgar and Maurine Jiles; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Hodge United Pentecostal Church from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with Bro. Jeff Stroud, Bro. Ray Hearron and Bro. Mark Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Quitman, under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers for the family will be Scott Powell, Colt Powell, Noah Hearron, Richard Kennedy, Allen Kennedy, and David Grant.

Today, we lost.
His family lost a husband, a dad, a Poppy.
Our church lost a prayer warrior, a worshiper, and the sweetest greeter to every single person present in a service.
But oh, how heaven gained.
We will miss you, “Bro Poppy”,
but we also rejoice with you.
We will see you soon!
