Nelda Alexander
January 24, 1946 – July 7, 2026

Nelda Sue (Volentine) Alexander, 80, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Above all else, Nelda loved the Lord. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life and guided every decision she made. She faithfully served God with a humble heart, unwavering trust, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her. Through her kindness, compassion, and servant’s spirit, she reflected Christ’s love to her family, friends, and all who knew her. A devoted member of Sweetwater Baptist Church, Nelda dearly loved her church family and found great joy in worship, fellowship, and serving alongside them throughout the years.

Family meant everything to Nelda. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a treasured great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was caring for those she loved. She was her family’s biggest supporter, always encouraging, praying for, and celebrating each of their accomplishments. Her home was filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Nelda found joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, tending to her flower gardens, and working in her yard. She cherished gatherings with her brothers, sisters, and extended family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. She and her beloved husband, John, also looked forward to their time at the Council on Aging, where they enjoyed meals, games, fellowship, and the many friendships they built over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Elnora Volentine; her sisters, Phyllis Volentine, Jimmie Jones (Tony), Doris Christian (Woodard), Rose Cranford (Malvin); her brothers, JD Volentine, Curtis Volentine; and her great-granddaughter, Bella Ann Roy.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, John D. Alexander; her sons, Scott Alexander (Wendy) and Daren Alexander (Tina); her beloved grandchildren, Ashley Alexander, Christopher Alexander, Bridget Alexander, Hunter Alexander (Katie), John Alexander, Aaron Alexander, Emily Allen (Jonathan), Rickey Allen (Jensine), Nikki Jorgensen, Bella Jorgensen, and Analise Jorgensen; and her nine cherished great-grandchildren: Libby, Luke, Haylen, Liam, Conner, Lathan, Cameron, Charlotte, and John Cooper.

She is also survived by her brothers, Alton Volentine (Barbara), Dale Volentine, and Phillip Volentine (Pam); her sisters, Gale Land and Ruby Hodges (Donnie); along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Paradise Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Sweet Water Baptist Church in Quitman, Louisiana, with Bro. Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home.

Nelda’s life was a beautiful testimony of faith, love, and devotion. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the promise that this is not goodbye, but a joyful reunion yet to come in the presence of the Lord.

Otha Anders
September 15, 1942 – July 4, 2026

On the day that the United States of America celebrated its 250th birthday, Jackson Parish mourned the loss of one of its beloved, Mr. Otha Anders, who gained his heavenly wings at the age of 83.

Dedicated to serving the residents of Jackson and Lincoln Parish, Anders began a devoted career in education in the mid-1960’s as a teacher before rising to the position of Assistant Principal at Weston High School from 1983 to 1999. Anders had also served on the Lincoln Parish School Board for District 10 since 1997, leaving a legacy of faithfully serving the students, staff, and families of Jackson and Lincoln Parishes, and making a lasting impact on our schools and community.

Additional endeavors included serving on the Ruston Planning and Zoning Commission, as a Ruston 21 land use advisory committee member, as Supervisor of the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, as a debate team coach, and as a summer league baseball coach, while also serving his church as a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher.

Visitation for family and friends will take place from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 19th at Miracle Temple, located at 1405 South Farmerville Street in Ruston, LA, with the funeral service scheduled to be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 20th at Temple Baptist Church, located at 1515 South Service Road West in Ruston, under the direction of Miller Funeral Home.

John Aldy
December 27, 1968 – July 7, 2026

John Leslie Aldy, 57, of West Monroe, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. John will be remembered as a hardworking man with a larger-than-life personality, a quick wit, and a heart devoted to the people he loved. An unwavering LSU Tigers football fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Tigers. He also found peace on the water while bass fishing and took great pride in a career that reflected his strong work ethic. For more than 20 years, John traveled throughout the country as a skilled millwright before spending the next 12 years serving as a quality assurance officer for SeaArk Boats.

Though he would rarely admit it, those who knew him best could see the special affection he had for his pet cats. Above all, John’s greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved grandchildren, his family, and his many friends. The memories they shared and the love they exchanged will remain a treasured part of their lives forever.

John is survived by his wife, Alleisha (Ashley) Aldy; father, Jerry Aldy; children, Elizabeth Cotton (Matt), Dillon Aldy (Heidi), Justin Aldy (Haley), Chase Stewart, Scarlett Wilkinson (Justin), siblings, Misty Everett (Darryl), Jeanie (Womack) Miles, Jason Womack (Jessie), Dana Godson (Franklin), De’Linda Cockerham (Ross), and Jeremy Aldy; 14 grandchildren; uncle, Buddy Womack; in-laws, Leroy and Judy Ashley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Terri (Blake) Cloud; infant sister, Mary Ann; paternal grandparents, Buddy and Jean Aldy; and aunt, Patti Womack.

The family will have a private funeral service under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA.

Serving as pallbearers will be Trey Sanders, Ricky Sanders, Ross Cockerham, Will McKnight, Justin Wilkinson, and Casey Blake. Honorary pallbearers will be Dillon Aldy and Justin Aldy.

For those who would like to bring food, the family asks that it be brought to his sister, Misty Everett’s home at 1426 East Main Street, Jonesboro, LA.

David Scott Watts
January 6, 1960 – July 6, 2026

David Scott Watts went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2026, at the age of 66. A 1978 graduate of Jonesboro-Hodge High School, Scott leaves behind sister Susie Watts, brother Russ Watts, and a host of friends and classmates to cherish his memory. A graveside service was held on Thursday, July 9th, at the Jonesboro Cemetery under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA.

Bobbie Leonard Liddell
April 3, 1943 – July 2, 2026

Born on April 3, 1943, Ms. Bobbie Leonard Liddell passed away on July 2, 2026 at the age of 83. Visitation for family and friends was held on Saturday, July 11th with her Life Celebration service following at Bethany Baptist Church in Quitman, LA under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA.
