The Jackson Parish Retired Teachers’ Association met on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Jackson Parish Library for an engaging and uplifting program focused on wellness and healthy life transitions.
The featured speaker was Mrs. Samantha Edu, a licensed professional counselor and owner of Brown Heart Wellness, a private counseling practice in Georgia. Samantha is the daughter of Dr. Jackie Mason and specializes in providing culturally responsive therapy and coaching for women and men navigating leadership roles and major life transitions.
During the meeting, Mrs. Edu led members through an interactive therapy session designed specifically for retirees experiencing life transitions. Participants engaged in several meaningful activities, including body therapy exercises, “Chalkboard Memories,” and “Wisdom Sharing.” These activities encouraged reflection, relaxation, and the opportunity to connect with one another through shared experiences.
The program was well received by everyone in attendance. The JPRTA extends its sincere appreciation to Mrs. Samantha Edu for sharing her expertise and providing inspiring and memorable activities that emphasized the importance of emotional well-being and lifelong wellness.
