Brittany Goss, representing Quitman High School, was recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) in partnership with Dream Teachers as one of nine finalists for the New Teacher of the Year Award during the 20TH annual Educator Excellence gala held on July 25th in New Orleans, LA.

“Each of these educators represents the significant impact one dedicated professional can have on students and our state,” said Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley. “Louisiana’s continued success depends on educators who refuse to settle, take pride in their craft, and keep pushing students toward the future they deserve.”

The Louisiana Department of Education is committed to recognizing educators, school leaders, and staff who make a meaningful difference in the lives of students. Through annual awards and recognition programs, the LDOE honors those who reflect the highest standards of the profession and demonstrate a deep commitment to student success.

In a Facebook post, Goss expressed her appreciation for the recognition.

“Thank you, LDOE, Dream Teachers, and Laurie Carlton for this amazing experience! It was an incredible honor to represent Jackson Parish and the beautiful state of Louisiana! Top 9 out of 7,000 new teachers is definitely something to be proud of,” said Goss. “Thank you to my family, friends, school, and community for supporting me and encouraging me along the way! A BIG thank you to my amazing students! They are the real rockstars and the reason I made it to where I am! They gave me an amazing first year as a teacher and will always hold a special place in my heart! They are the ones that deserve all the recognition! Most of all, thank you, Jesus, for instilling in me a love for teaching and helping others. Teaching is one of the most challenging jobs but also the most rewarding. I pray that my passion for education never fades but only burns brighter each year!”
