Local landowners and wildlife enthusiasts will have the opportunity next Saturday, August 8th to learn practical strategies for improving habitat quality at the Management for Better Wildlife workshop, hosted by the LSU AgCenter at the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office. The event begins with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by a two‑hour program starting at 9:00 a.m.

The workshop will focus on building stronger wildlife food plots, improving forage availability, and understanding how seasonal changes shape habitat needs. Participants will also explore the role of prescribed burning as a tool for maintaining healthy environments and encouraging beneficial plant growth. Presenters will walk attendees through smart, effective approaches that landowners can apply to develop their own property.

Organizers from the LSU AgCenter, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries, and the Piney Hills Prescribed Burn Association will guide participants in thinking about their land as a connected system where soil health, vegetation structure, and management decisions work together to support wildlife.
