From East Hodge, LA, to Chief Warrant Officer Two in the United States Armed Services!
That is what family, friends, and a plethora of Jackson Parish residents and officials gathered for at City Hall in the Town of Jonesboro on August 9th, in celebration of Norman Amos Jr. earning the promotion and in recognition of his nearly 16 years of distinguished service.
Currently holding the position of Human Resources Technician for G-1 Plans and Operations of the First Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas, with duties including overseas assignments in Iraq, Kuwait, and Italy, Amos enlisted in the United States Army at Shreveport, Louisiana, in October 2008 as a Cargo Specialist (88H).
In 2012, he reclassified to Human Resource Specialist (42A). As an Enlisted Soldier, he has successfully served in multiple roles: Control Handler Front Leader Operator (88H), Plans and Operations Specialist, Casualty Human Resource Specialist, Postal SGT, Human Resource SGT, Battalion Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC), and an Army Recruiter.
The husband of Jessica Amos and father to seven-year-old Novah’lie, CW2 Amos’ military education includes Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Senior Noncommissioned Officer Course, and Warrant Officer Basic Course. He has also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from Post University and is currently working on his
Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management.
CW2 Amos’ awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (1OLC), Army Recruiter Gold Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.

My recent promotion ceremony to Chief Warrant Officer Two (CW2) in Jonesboro, Louisiana was more than just a ceremony — it was a celebration of faith, family, friendship, sacrifice, and community. First and foremost, I give ALL GLORY to God. Without Him, none of this would be possible. Every step of my journey from my childhood in East Hodge to where I stand today has been covered by His grace. To everyone who took the time to attend my promotion ceremony in person or virtually, THANK YOU! Your presence, calls, messages, prayers, and support meant more to me and my family than you know.
A special THANK YOU to the Mayor of the Town of Jonesboro for allowing me to use the facility and helping make this special day possible. The love and hospitality shown to me and my family will never be forgotten. And to my lifelong friend, my brother, MAJ Riccardo Paggett; thank you for standing with me and being part of this journey. Some friendships go beyond friendship… they become family.

CW2 — earned through faith, hard work, sacrifice, and the unwavering support of an amazing village. East Hodge raised me. Jonesboro embraced me. God carried me. Family supported me.
