(Submitted by JHHS Athletic Department) – As we begin another year of athletics at Jonesboro-Hodge High School, we want to share a reminder about how important it is to support our student-athletes and athletic programs. While all of our teams are extremely grateful for donations given, fundraisers and ticket sales are essential because they help cover the many expenses associated with providing athletic opportunities for our students.
For example, one of the most significant expenses for any sporting event is paying the officials/referees. Whether we have a packed stadium/gym/ball field or a small crowd, the officials must still be paid. When attendance is low, ticket revenue is also low, and there may be little or no profit after expenses. We must also provide and pay for security to help ensure that our students, staff, families, and guests have a safe environment.
We extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the officers and deputies who serve and protect us—and a special thank you to those who understand our circumstances and continue to make sure we are protected. Your service does not go unnoticed.
Thank you to our concession stand volunteers, including those who generously give their time even though they may not have a child participating. Thank you to our commentators, Booster Club, Quarterback Club, school personnel who work the gates, coaches, staff members, and administrators who step in wherever they are needed.
It truly takes a village to support our students and keep our athletic programs moving forward. So many people give their time, talents, resources, and energy, often without recognition or expecting anything in return.
To each of you who supports our effort: YOU are our unsung heroes, and we appreciate you!
