The awards keep coming for LonTre’vious “Tre” Burns, who is enjoying a banner football season for Jonesboro-Hodge High School. This week, the multi-dimensional running back/defensive back was voted the “One Love” Player of the Week, an award sponsored by Raising Cane’s and in partnership with K104 Friday Night Scoreboard and the Bayou Jamb.
Burns, a senior on the Tiger squad, earned the award after rushing for 122 yards on 13 carries and scoring 3 touchdowns, and catching 2 passes for 45 yards and another score. He also had 4 tackles on defense.
This is the third award that Burns has gained this year. At the season-opening Bayou Jamb, Burns was voted the Player of the Game. He followed that up by earning the first-ever “Ironman Award” presented by Big Law Media to the player who had the best offensive and defensive game in North Louisiana after his performance against Delhi Charter, where he rushed for 111 yards on just 7 carries and scored two touchdowns, had a catch for 65 yards and a score, and on defense recorded 8 tackles, 5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
With two games remaining in the regular season, Burns, who was moved to the tailback position this year after being the Tigers’ leading receiver in 2025, has scored 16 touchdowns and rushed for 744 yards on 88 carries for a tremendous 8.45 yards per carry average while also catching 8 passes for 210 yards, which equates to a 26.25 yards per catch average. He is also the Tigers’ leading tackler, with 44 stops this year. Making the stats even more impressive is that this has been achieved in only 6 games.
