Sheriff Barnett, employees of the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and representatives of the Quitman Fire District 1 were honored to participate in First Responders Day at Union-Bee Head Start. The event was in conjunction with the celebration of National First Responders Day 2026, which was observed on Wednesday, October 28th.
Officially recognized and designated by Congress to acknowledge the vital role these professionals play in public safety, National First Responders Day honors the courage, sacrifice, and service of roughly 4.6 million career and volunteer first responders, made up of law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, 911 dispatchers, and public works personnel across the United States.
“We sincerely appreciate the kindness, support, and heartfelt appreciation shown to us by the children and staff,” said Sheriff Barnett. “It was a privilege to spend time with everyone and be a part of such a special occasion. Thank you, Union-Bee Head Start, for recognizing and supporting our first responders!”
