Anderson Named Fire Fighter of the Year

The Yuletide season and a very successful year was celebrated recently when the Jonesboro Fire Department (JFD) had their annual Christmas Party.  The highlight of the event that was attended by virtually every member of the JFD was the recognition given to Captain Wayne Anderson who was named Fire Fighter of the Year.

The 22 year veteran of the department, who is also the Vice-President of the Fire District Board, has served under six Fire Chief’s during his tenure including current Fire Chief Brandon Brown who praised Anderson for his work.

“I know I speak for all the members of all the fire districts in the parish when I say that Wayne is very deserving of this award,” said Brown. “For over two decades Wayne has put his own personal safety and the security on the line for the people of Jonesboro and Jackson Parish. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated and skilled person helping to protect us.”
