Lady Tigers sweep 1-2A All-District top honors, five boys and girls named to first team

Jonesboro-Hodge Lady Tiger head basketball coach Britani Fields and junior Xabrianna Jackson has been named District 1-2A Coach of the Year and MVP – AGAIN! The selection is the second straight for both, putting each in rare company in JHHS athletic history. Two more girls and two boys were also selected to the elite first team.

For the Lady Tigers who finished 13-6 on the year after bowing out in the Class 2A regionals after winning district 1-2A in undefeated fashion Yahzmynne Andrews and Chamya Waters were also selected to the first team. Edward “Robbie” Kary and Tydre Malone was chosen for the boy first team after JHHS finished the year with an 8-6 record and a first round playoff exit s. Justin Calahan and Zymea Hoggro earned Second Team honors with Zion Gray, Cameron Joe, Javeon Andrews, Ajay Tew and Daveon McGuire all received honorable mention designation.

Kary was the Tigers leading three point shooter and averaged 11.3 points per game while Malone scored at a 10.2 points per game clip and averaged 7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game. Additional first team members included Cortez Collins and Omarion Miller from North Caddo, Cartez Alexander Jr of Lakeside and District MVP – Austin Riser of D’Arbonne Woods Charter. Gideon Scarbrough of North Caddo was named Coach of the Year.
