Library Board sends emancipation request to Jackson Parish Police Jury

A letter to request emancipation from the Jackson Parish Police Jury was sent recently but as of yet no answer has been returned. Floyd Knox, Jackson Parish Library Director informed members of the Library Board of this at their regularly scheduled meeting that was held on February26th. Present to hear this was Board members: Paula Essmeier, Judy Cooper, Lisa Nunn and President Carol Massey. Also present was the Library Director, Mr. Knox, Assistant Director, Mrs. Robertson, Teresa Carroll, Phyllis Moore, and Architect, Wayne Coco.
Board members absent were Carolyn Crawley,  Ann Standley, and Lewis Chatham, ex-officio representative for the Jackson Parish Police Jury. 

Director Knox also presented the contract submitted by architecture firm Coco & Co. which was approved. Mr. Wayne Coco and his staff are proposing to assist Jackson Parish in assessing the needs of both Chatham and Jonesboro branches of the Library and any potential future branch sites. Also approved was bids from TEC for phone service and internet at the fastest option available.

The meeting began with the January minutes being approved following the acceptance of financial and statistical date provided. A “Resolution of Respect” made in memory of former Board Member Bertha Robinson was then approved before Chatham Branch Manager Phyliss Moore gave an update on the damage caused by the flooding that occurred during winter storm.

Meeting of March 22nd: A short meeting was held where basic agenda items of approving the February meeting minutes and approval of the February financial and statistical reports were the only matters of business handled due to their being several members absent.

Chutes and Easter sweets on Saturday! – This Saturday, March 27th kids of all ages are invited to “Hop on Down” to the Chatham and Jonesboro Branches of the Library to take advantage of Easter sweets that are going to be given away from 9:30am – 12:00 noon.
