The Ward 4 Fire Department recently made it a very “Fun Day” for the Weston High School Pre-K class.
As the class arrived at the Fire Department, they were greeted by Sparky the Fire Dog. The students were then entertained with an array of fun activities.
This included learning when and how to call 911, playing an active game of “911”, listening to a dramatic reading of “It’s time to call 911”, watching a K-9 demonstration (some of the more adventurous students actually got an opportunity to gently pet the visiting K-9), learning fire safety procedures and calming techniques along with Stop, Drop and Roll, touring an Ambulance along with a walk around tour of a Medical Helicopter and a tour of a Forestry Bulldozer.
After the demonstrations and tours the students were able to burn off some energy by playing on an inflatable slide and in a jump house. The students, teachers and all guests were then treated to a delicious lunch of grilled burgers, chips, cookies, ice cream and soft drinks/water. After lunch the students were allowed additional play time on the slide and in the bounce house which they thoroughly enjoyed. Each student was given a goody bag which consisted of coloring books, crayons, ambulance hats, frisbees, lollipops, firemen hats, paw patrol gummy snacks, sheriff badges, sheriff peel off stickers and 911 stick signs. At the conclusion of the “Fun Day” the teachers and students were driven back to the campus of Weston High School in Ward 4 Fire Trucks.
