Judith Ann Blalock

Judith “Judie” Ann Blalock was born October 31, 1950, in Hodge, LA, and passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021, in Jonesboro, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Loyd and Lou Allie (Brown) Blalock, and her sister, Doris (Blalock) Hennigan.
She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Blalock, Sr. (Pat) and her sister, Mary Blalock, all from West Monroe, LA. Also, Judie is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Judie was a 1968 graduate of Jonesboro-Hodge High School. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University and became a dedicated teacher for many years. During her years as an educator, she was a Cheerleader Sponsor and President of the Jackson Parish Federation of Teachers.
After retirement, Judie was a secretary of the Jonesboro Study Guild, Board Member of the Jackson Parish Chamber of Commerce, and President of the Jackson Parish Museum.
Memorial services will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to the Jackson Parish Museum. An Amazon Wish List has been set up for donations of school supplies and cat food to be given out in memory of Judie.
Nelda Lavern Carter
December 01, 1925 – June 28, 2021
Mrs. Nelda Lavern Carter, age 95 of Jonesboro, passed through Heaven’s Gates Monday, June 28, 2021 following a lengthy period of declining health. Mrs. Carter was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who had loved to spend time with her family and friends until her declining years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son-in-law, Jimmy Deese and daughter-in-law, Kitty Carter; grandchildren, Jody Deese & Kandi, Toby Deese and Brandi, Cody Deese & Ashley, Eric Carter & Jan, B.J. Carter; great grandchildren, Carter Deese, Jolie Deese, Hunter Deese, Kolton Deese, Miranda Long, Marissa Deese, Zae Deese, Dakota Carter, Nicole Carter, Tyler Carter, Olivia Carter, Lucy Carter, Sadie Carter, Penny Carter, Kaci Wyman, Della Carter; great-great-grandson, Jett Carter.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Carter; son, Glen Carter; daughter, Gail Carter; grandson, Timothy Carter; great-great-grandson, Corey Ingram Carter; parents, Earl & Clara (Martin) Lindsey; sister, Doris Lindsey Bethard; brothers, Durwood Lindsey, Aubrey Lindsey.
Funeral services were held at the Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, June 30, 2021 with Reverend Norris Currey officiating. Interment followed in Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.
Serving the family as pallbearers were Jimmy Deese, Jody Deese, Toby Deese, Cody Deese, Eric Carter, B.J. Carter. Dennis Hood served as honorary pallbearer.
