Board of Aldermen reverse position on lease of building to Boys & Girls Club

All’s well that end well! The Boys and Girls Club of north Louisiana will not have to pay for a place to meet in Jonesboro after all. This was decided by the Jonesboro Board of Aldermen at their regular scheduled monthly meeting held at Town Hall this past Tuesday, who voted to rescind the $500.00 per month charge to lease the McDonald Recreation Center.

Cooler minds prevail! Discussion began with Jonesboro Mayor Leslie Thompson and former Mayor James Bradford apologizing for the altercation that took place during last months Board meeting over the contract. Thompson then acknowledged that after having a discussion with the Director of the Boys & Girls club that it would be strenuous on the organization to pay the amount that was originally agreed upon. He then asked the Council to consider rescinding the contract, which resulted in a motion being made and carried to allow the organization to meet at the location at no cost to them.
