January 3, 1954 – July 24, 2021
Joanna Tilley, age 67 of Quitman, walked through the gates of Heaven on July 24, 2021. She enjoyed being in the outdoors to do some fishing. She also enjoyed canning and attending concerts. One of her favorite activities to do was going on adventures and getting out and traveling. She will forever be treasured as a beloved wife, loving grandmother and aunt. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Those left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 30 years, David Tilley; granddaughters, Madison Tilley, Alexis Tilley; brother, James Hilburn and Carla; nephews, Justin Hilburn and Brittany, Yancy Hilburn and Amanda; a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Irma (Mann) Hilburn.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Center Point Baptist Church from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. Funeral services are set to begin at 2:00p.m. with Reverend Randy Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.
Jeanne Catherine Walsworth
October 31, 1934 – July 20, 2021
Mrs. Jeanne Catherine (Lester) Walsworth, age 86 of Jonesboro was escorted by angels into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.
Mrs. Walsworth committed her life to taking care of others. She was employed by Dr. George Robinson at Robinson’ Clinic in Jonesboro as a surgical nurse and lab technician. When his clinic closed she became the Administrator of Carter’s Nursing Home and later the Administrator of Forest Haven Nursing Facility.
Catherine was a faithful member of Springhill Baptist Church on Walker Road. She loved to sing in the choir and enjoyed cooking for church fellowships, Bible School and for others in need. She went on bus trips with some of her classmates and enjoyed every minute as she loved to travel and see the country.
Mrs. Walsworth lived a good life and even through the harder times her faith never wavered. She liked nothing better than having her family around her, especially the three grandsons. She will be missed. Because of the decision she made long ago to follow Christ, she is at peace today. Our family is at peace because she is no longer suffering and she is in a far better place than us.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Catherine Toler & James and Connie Colley & Glenn; grandsons, Brian Toler, Jonas Colley, Michael Toler; sisters, Johnny Walsworth and Ann Simmons. She was preceded in death by her husband Troyce Ray Walsworth; parents, John H. & Ethel (Fletcher) Lester; siblings, John Albert Lester, Effie Holmes, Betty Jean Lester, Ruthie Mae Lester; many special nephews, nieces and close friends she helped to raise and nurture through the years.
Funeral services were held Friday at Springhill Baptist Church with Reverend Mac Brunson and Reverend Don Cardin officiating. Interment followed in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Honoring Mrs. Walsworth by serving as pallbearers were Jonas Colley, Paul Trosclair, James Lester, Bud Simmons, Joseph Greer, Holden Greer, Paul Adkins, Johnathan Self. Honorary pallbearers were Truett Walsworth, Paul Martin, Phillip Kelly.
