Per a notice dated July 23, 2021 that is posted on the front door of City Hall in Jonesboro, a request is to be submitted to the Louisiana Department of Administration (DOA) to release $1,199,451.00 in Federal funds in order for the 2020 Louisiana Community Development Block Grant (LCDBG) Sewer Improvements Project to get underway. The objective of the project is for the Town of Jonesboro to improve the South Oxidation Pond and repair/improve Lift Station #1, Cemetery Road Lift Station and the Holly Street Lift Station.
Further declaration states that the project will have no significant impact on humans or the environment after an eight step process determined that any affected wetlands and/or floodplains will be safe. As result an Environmental Impact Statement is not required. Project information is contained in the Environmental Review Record on file at the Town of Jonesboro City Hall, located at 128 Allen Avenue in Jonesboro and can be examined or copied weekdays from 9:00am top 3:00pm.
The Town of Jonesboro has certified to the DOA that Leslie Thompson, in his official capacity as Mayor, consents to accept the jurisdiction of the Federal Courts if an action is brought to enforce responsibilities in relation to environmental review process and that these responsibilities have been satisfied. The DOA will consider any objections to the release of these funds and the Mayor’s certification until August 27th, 2021 or a period of 15 days from the receipt of the Town’s request for the funds to be released, whichever is later.
