James “Papa Joe” Holsomback
May 30, 1930 – August 14, 2021

joeOn Saturday, August 14, 2021 Retired Chief Deputy, James Richard Holsomback Sr. also known as “Papa Joe” passed away at the age of 91, peacefully at home with his family. He served the Town of Jonesboro as a police officer, a Jonesboro Volunteer Fireman, then went to the JPSO where he remained until retiring as Chief Deputy. He was truly a Public Servant!

James was preceded in death by his parents, John Elmer Cornett and Dovie Holsomback Cornett , his wife of 35 years Dixie Lee Weaver Holsomback, his oldest Granddaughter Angela Tilley Wilson. Stepson David Watts and Great grand daughter Amelia Kaye Greer.

Papa Joe was survived by his wife of 31 years Betty McBride Watts of Weston, La. Two daughters Pam Tilley (Charles) of West Monroe, La and Pat Ables (Reggie) of Jonesboro, La. One son James Richard Holsomback Jr (Kay) of Longview, Tx. Step-Children Stephen Watts (Lisa), Shelia Watts (Daughter-in-Law), John Watts, Diana Watts Delaney (Mark), Sarah Watts Dark (Michael) all all from Weston, La.

Papa Joe had a host of Grandkids and Great Grandkids, Mike Wilson (Grandson-in-Law), daughter Anslee Wilson. Ashley Garner, sons Jase and Jaxon Garner. Justin Tilley (Amanda) children, Alexis Tilley, Madison Tilley, Layton Garrett, Addisyn Garrett, Londyn Tilley. Allyson Martin (Brian) children Aubren Martin Emberton (Cole), Ava Dove Martin. Joey Tilley sons Ayden Watkins and Ian Tilley, Katie Lee Holsomback Smith (Jordan), Melissa Perry, Stephen Watts Jr., Emily Smith, Rachel Waggoner, Sadie Flower, Will Watts, Mark Delaney II, Hannah Greer, John Odenbaugh, and Taylor Wall and 23 Great grandchildren.

A grave side service was held, Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pall Bearers included: Eddie Gatlin, Cody Cheatwood, Todd Culpepper, Keith Watkins, Nelson Spillers, Paul Trosclair, Wesley Horton, Dennis Wayne Smith, Jonny Golden and Travis Ables.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Faith Over fear Foundation, 4705 Cypress street, West Monroe, La 71291.

Sandra Faye Huckaby
January 23, 1951 – August 04, 2021

huckabySandra Huckaby was born on January 23, 1951 in Weatherford, Texas. She gained her angel wings on August 4, 2021.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Kelley & Keith and Susan Lowe & Todd; grandchildren, Klint Kelley, Katelin Norman, Sandi Lowe, Dakota Kelley, Summer Lowe, Amber Dunn and Todd Lowe, Jr; great grandchildren, Hayden Norman, Layla Kelley, Brayleigh Norman, Lizzie Gray, Danlie Owecki, Weslynn Lowe, Belle Worley, and Samuel Owecki; siblings, Ruby Farr, Carolyn Stuckey, Rose Mary, Pete Jackson & Reba and John Jackson, Jr; sister-in-law Hellen Cook; brother-in-law, Tony Huckaby; a whole host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George “Mike” Huckaby; parents, Ruby Roden and John Jackson; siblings, Glenn Cook, Larry Cook and Edith Huckaby.

A memorial service to honor Sandra was held Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel.

Gladys Ann Reed
October 25, 1946 – August 11, 2021

reedMrs. Gladys Ann (Shows) Turner Reed was escorted through the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Reed was a loving and kind person who enjoyed even the smallest blessing of life. She loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed her children and all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14, 2021 at North Hodge First Assembly of God Church with Reverend Geary Phillips and Reverend Joel Sneed officiating. Interment followed in the Ebenezer Cemetery near Jonesboro under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.

Mrs. Reed is survived by her husband, Alton Curtis Reed; children, Sharon (Turner) Whitman and husband Darron Whitman, Charlotte Ann Turner, DeWayne Wray Turner Jr.; grandchildren, Sloane Moak & husband Steven, Halee Siddon & husband Dustin, Matthew Whitman & wife Kristina, Quinton Brewer, Adrianna Brewer, Dustin Turner, Joshua Turner, DeWayne Turner III; step children, Mary Wall, Shirley Kelly, JoAnn Nichols, Billy Reed, Carl Reed; step grandchildren, David Kelly, J.J. Wall, Emma Reed, Elliett Reed, Andrew Reed, Rachel Reed, Taylor Nichols, Cameron Nichols; 28 great grandchildren; brother, Clifton Shows; sisters, Shirley Stone & husband Wesley, Linda Jones & husband Maurice, Anita Adams & husband Tommy, Kathy Beech & husband Wayne; adopted foster children, Ben Gill, Sam Gill, Brandy Horn, Larry Gill; lifelong friend Gwen Holiman of Benton, Ark; a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, DeWayne Turner, Sr.; parents, Marby Woodrow & Murel Iris (Davis) Shows; siblings, Clinton Shows, Buddy Shows, Ray Shows.
