Ebenezer Baptist Church to celebrate Homecoming this Sunday, August 22nd

Ebenezer Baptist Church will hold Homecoming on August 22, 2021. Worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Potluck lunch to follow in the gymnasium. Ebenezer Baptist Church was organized in 1849 and adopted their name in 1850. In the late 1800’s a lumber structure erected where the cemetery is now. School and church was held in this building. Over the years many things have changed concerning the buildings but the mission has remained the same.

“Then Samuel took a stone…and called the name Ebenezer saying, hitherto hath the Lord helped us.” 1st Samuel 7:12ebenezer1

The first wooden structure that was built was situated on the corner of the “Old Vernon and Winnfield Road” and “Old Natchitoches Road”. Original constitutors were: Hardy Hargrove, J.M. Hargrove, H.H. Hargrove, Sarah Hargrove, G.W. Burkett, Cornelia Burkett, Amos Granberry, Elizabeth Granberry, Miriam Whistine, Lucretia Haynes, Edna Wyatt and Martha Sermons. The pastor was W.H. Hollan.

Bro. Chris Lee, Pastor, and the church family would like to invite all former members, pastors and family members to join us as Ebenezer Baptist Church celebrates 171 years of service to our Lord.
