Beaubouef and Anderson to be recognized by Jackson Parish School Board at Monday meeting

At their regularly scheduled monthly meeting this Monday the Jackson Parish School Board (JPSB) will recognize National Beta Convention Contest winners Mattie Claire Beaubouef of Weston High and Zoie Anderson of Jonesboro-Hodge. The session is scheduled to begin at 11:00am in the meeting room of the JPSB Central Office, located at 315 Pershing Hwy.

The National Honorary Beta Club is comprised of students who give exemplary effort and achievement and seeks to cultivate the ideals of service and leadership.  The two Jackson Parish representatives were among over 13,000 contestants from all over the nation vying for awards. Beaubouef won second place in Division 2 –  Mixed Media as well as Division 2 – Service Learning Showcase. Shbe also won fourth place in Division 2 – Drawing.  Anderson won fourth place honors in Division 2 – Drawing.

Board members Dennis Clary (President), Gloria Davis (Vice-President), Rickey McBride, Wade McBride, Gerry Mims, Mary Saulters and Calvin “Bart” Waggoner will also discuss levying 2021 millage rates, approve minutes from the regular monthly and special called meetings  in August and adopt the various committee reports. Also to be discussed is the request by the Weston High School baseball team to be allowed to travel to Dyersville, Iowa in March of 2022.

Visitors are welcome to attend but must wear a mask.
